The Finish Line
How’d your 7-day challenge experience turn out? What surprised you, energized you, or gave you reason to stop and think? If you could go back and re-do the challenge, what would you do differently? Has the way you perceive yourself changed in some way over the past week?
My Check-In: It wasn’t as cold as I stepped into the morning darkness. That this is day 7 didn’t seem to matter at all. I’d like to see myself continue with the early rising and, most importantly, sustain the trend of daily exercise. I’m not entirely looking forward to the crunches next week. I hope you’ll join me in making them happen though!
Check-in Time, Striders!

Oh, you did fine my day 6 checkin. I accidently put it as a reply to someone else’s post, so I wasn’t sure you were going to find it… Not trying to confuse you, although it might seem that way…
My Day 7 is done.
Hey Everyone! (Day 6 update written on Day 7)
I either did the same thing as Seth or I turned off my alarm and never even opened my eyes. My husband didn’t hear it either, so I’m blaming the dumb iPhone alarm clock app that doesn’t reset itself when I need it too. ;-D
I woke up at 7:50 however and was supposed to be at work by 8:30! Luckily, my boss is such a great guy and gives me until about 9am to roll in. (He’s having too much fun with me ACTUALLY getting up at 5am!) I know I’ve said I love the accountability of this, but to tell him I didn’t make my 5am wake-up time. . .I was facing the, “I knew you couldn’t do it” conversation.
I didn’t blog yesterday either. . but, I FINALLY was able to work out at 9:30pm last night (stupid diabetes!) I did 5 miles with my walking video.
I got up on time today, but thought I’d try eating before working out. It might help with my “dawn phenomenon” blood sugar going higher while I exercise.
You’re all doing such an amazing job! Keep it up!
And Seth, isn’t it amazing that with 1 week goals, we’re able to move through a rough day and jump back in. If this was an old fashioned resolution, I wonder how many of us would’ve already given up, thinking it was stupid to make said resolution and I’ll start again on February 1st. The one week at a time concept was simply BRILLIANT!
I completely agree with your assessment that 7-day goals is brilliant. It’s the reason I’m on board. I can manage 7 days at a time. I can’t manage a month. 7 day goals are absolutely perfect for me and my odd life.
Yes, I second that. On today’s walk I was thinking what a great idea this was and thankful for Seth for orchestrating it.

and I agree with the 7-day goal comments
Thanks for the inspiration Seth
I walked the final 5K. http://fitby41maybe42.blogspot.com/2010/01/5-at-5-day-7-report-last-day-and-next.html
I woke up early but I’m going for my walk now because it is warmer and I wanted some sunshine today =) I’m pretty positive next weeks challenge is going to require blogging on my part with photographs, because I’ve picked some interesting vegetables, and one avocado, because I’ve never had one and I wanted to try things I have NEVER eaten.
I failed. Waking at 5am was very difficult for me. I managed the 5k, but sometimes it was at 9pm. I felt great the one day I did manage to wake at 5am. Exercising in the morning seemed to energize me all day. I also found that when I had everything laid out and ready in the morning I did much better than when I had to search for the ipod, shoes, water bottle, etc. I’m going to modify my plan for next week to exercise at 8. Looking forward to next week’s challenge. I have always had good eating habits and like to find new ways to prepare and cook with vegetables. I really like trying something new for 7 days. It really helps motivate me to try new things and determine what works for me. Thanks, Seth.

Managed to get another snowshoeing trek in — you’ll have to read to find out how I did it!
I will be keeping up the 7:00 am rising time and possibly even pushing it back to 6:30 (I’m a bit of a night owl so that will be tough). As for the distance traveling, I’ll keep it up a couple times a week but I doubt I can make it every day.
Both of the cubs will be skiing/snowshoeing at school once a week and they need volunteers, so that will be part of it. The Monday night Ball Hockey will not stop although I sometimes miss a week (never by choice).
Looking forward to that Double Crunch!
Had a thought — Feb 18th will be the 7th day of the 7th challenge. It should be something special. Perhaps a special 1 day challenge of some sort?
Masochist.
hey heyyyy last day to check in. still getting up at 445 am and today was 2.6 miles on the dreadmill adn 1.76 miles outside. =D
and 10 miles on the bike. CAN”T WAIT FOR TOMORROW TO DOUBLE CRUNCH IT HARD CORE!
Maybe it could be “Double-up Day,” (i.e. if the challenge is 10 push-ups, then do 20 that day).
(Are you going to banish me from the PSchallenge for suggesting such a thing?)
If you were on a real road going somewhere, you’d be in another town!
Way to go!
Day 7 was a snap! I got up at 4:50 (my earliest time ever during this challenge) and did 3.5 miles on my stationary bike. Just me and my ipod in the basement (where the bike is — no room on the main level).
It was peaceful. No wind in my hair (or rather snow in my hair) or a cool breeze but the peace and quiet was heavenly!
Now on to Double crunch extraordinaire tomorrow!
~Kellie
Got back to the 5k today on the elliptical trainer, and took another 10 seconds off Day 5 time. Total reduction of 1 min 54 seconds (6.6%) in the past week. Would never have predicted it, so that part of the challenge was great! Makes me feel a lot more hopeful for my cardio exercise in 2010! I usually get up around 5 a.m., so that part wasn’t as big a change for me.
For double crunch, will be crunching fruits I don’t usually eat. Already have first whole apple and pear for Days 1 and 2. Have been doing the crunches the past few days, just to get ready : )
Thanks Seth for being our resolution instigator!
You did the 5K!!!! That’s success!
You live in a town/city with interesting vegetables? I can’t wait to see. It’s same-old same-old here.
my neighbor and I ended up doing things at a bit of different times but we did keep each other going and both did 7 days in a row…next week we’ll see if others will join us for the next challenge
whoohoo!
Keep Pressin’!
That’s awesome. I look forward to when exercising is a snap for me (and I don’t mean snapping a bone from tripping during a run).
This morning, I was up at 5am, ate some breakfast and walked 4 miles with my walk-at-home video. I wish I had a better view, but with it -20 outside. . .
After working out, I pulled on the winter wear and popped outside to help Dear Hubby shovel the snow. We got a couple of inches overnight, so it was quite a workout to get the sidewalks cleared. Final blood glucose after all that was 195.
I’m so excited about this next week! I’d like to continue trying to get up early but will switch to my bootcamp workout. It does a better job of getting my BG down. The crunches are SO needed and I love me some veggies. I’m not just planning on a different veg each day, but perhaps a few I’ve not tried before. This will be fun!
I’m also starting my insulin therapy, FINALLY! So, that will certainly help as well.
I’m so happy we’ve all done so well! This first week was a tough one, with sleep being such a difficult change in most people’s lives and routine. Keep up the good work everyone! Check in tomorrow!
I did it. It feels fantastic. Even when it was -20C, I made my 3K. I got up each day and did something, didn’t just slowly wake up. Today, I was doing some laps while making a giant batch of muffins for my Dad to take to work =D. Also, both of my parents (on separate occasions) said that I looked thinner. Although I do not need to lose weight, I wouldn’t mind re-distributing it into muscle =D. Without question, I will be continuing 3K in some form or another. Can’t wait for next week! Thanks for getting this ball rolling Seth.
I loved it. It made me think about how I could do exercise everyday no excuses.
Thank you from my shrinking ass.
Goodbye, Gina.
Piece of cake…no wait, wrong metaphor. No really this first challenge was easy. The NEXT one with 250 crunches A DAY and a different green veggie every day will be MUCH more challenging.
Not really. I’ll save the pass for that day 8=)
