The Double Crunch Challenge | Day 3

Good morning, Striders!

I tossed a leaf of kale into my green smoothie this morning (I have it growing on my patio) to mix things up from the collards yesterday. (I’m doing something separate with green smoothies I’ll tell you about soon. In the meantime, eat your veggies!)

50 more crunches to go and I’m done for the day. Doing crunches inside would have been a nice respite from jogging in the cold… had I stopped jogging in the cold. But I didn’t! Here’s a video I made for you all on the frosty (yet sunny) Mississippi beach:

It’s check-in time, Striders! Don’t forget to visit and encourage those blogging about their challenge experiences. If you’re blogging about your experience, make sure you leave a link in a comment so I can come visit you, too!

Day 3 is a pass day.

We got up early – 5am, which is way before my body is ever ready for awakeness – to go out of town to visit the husband’s family. So, not enough sleep + 100km (60miles) of driving (that’s 2 1/2 hours or so in this traffic) on very bumpy narrow roads that make me quite ill…

And I twisted my knee in the shower this morning – because, yes, I can injure myself while standing or sitting down – and it’s not happy. :) Hopefully it’ll be fine by tomorrow. :)

100 crunches to go and I’m done for the day. Sticking to the same breakdown of crunches today as yesterday.

What’s with y’all and the cabbage? Eh?

I can eat an entire head, raw, with a bit of italian salad dressing. Try it. =P

Cabbage actually makes me sick — I may have a mild allergy to it. Same with brussel sprouts (how ever you spell that). My wife loves it though. She had a wonderful salad with cabbage at the pot luck. It looked good and I tried a bite. It was quite bitter to me.

Finished up day 3 much earlier than 1 and 2. New fruit for today was a peach, maybe my favorite so far. Did the 250 crunhes at the gym, along with the first 5k since the week one challenge ended. Took another 7 seconds off the 5k; total reduction of 2 minutes, 1 second since 1/1. Thanks for the challenge Seth!

Today was a collard greens and green beans day. Day three was harder than same two it seems, however I got all my crunches in. On to day Four!

Day 3 about to commence. I had a salad at lunch and avocado at dinner, which I hadn’t had in quite awhile. Heading up to do my bootcamp workout AND the crunches. My tummy is SORE. . every time I rolled over last night, I could feel my muscles calling out for mercy. THEY’RE NOT GONNA GET IT! LOL

    Way to go Striders!

Here’s my Day 3 and 4 report. Short version – travelling on day 3, so pass. Day 4 is a half-pass with injuries showing up. Because I injure myself getting out of bed. You know. Because I’m that talented…

You know, one of these days, I should really write down all my various experiences in how I broke my toes. 5 times. I’m very talented. :D

Hope you heal up soon. And stop being so talented 8=)

    Word-up challengee’s!
Today’s greenery was basil on a bad-ass pizza (does that count?) a greek salad w/the pizza and a great spring mix salad during lunch. Forgot to clean my spinach so I did not add it to my omelette this morning.
Started my morn w/150 crunches and rode my bike 28.5 miles afternoon and evening w/the husband. I might do the other 100 crunches right before bed. Depends, I have some work to do.

You guys are doing great w/the exercise and the food challenge this week. Thinking of you’all keeps me going!

Yesterday-worked ALL day and was lucky to have made time to take the dog on a brisk walk. I did eat fresh spinach in my breakfast and dinner and a greek salad during lunch. Crunches did not happen Saturday.

    • LoneWolf 11. Jan, 2010 at 8:17 am #

I don’t think the salads are worth anything for the challenge, but the pizza counts 8=)

You’re a lucky man Seth Simonds. Keep up the great work. You’re a fine motivator and using this medium for good. (glad to know i wasn’t the only one requesting video proof)

Day 3. Chicken Cesar salad with Attitude (a la Sweet Mama). My wife makes a mean cesar salad that all our friends and family love. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I do know there is lots of garlic without it being overpowering.

As for the crunches, I’m struggling with getting those in. I got 75. That is about the max of what I can handle in a single set right now and I’m having trouble squeezing in the multiple sets throughout the day.

For day 4 I hope to get 2 sets in for 150 or so at least. If I can get a 3rd set that might get me to the 250.
