#355 Celina | The 100 Pounds Project

(New here? Welcome! Please read this article first.)

Dearest Celina,

As I lay on the mattress thrown on the floor of that basement room where water froze if left in a glass overnight; you were there.

When I stared at the tower that comprised a job interview, wondered if I was really afraid of heights, and began to climb; you were there.

When I stepped on a plane to a country I knew nothing about for a job I wasn’t sure I could do; you were there.

As I looked into her eyes and said those three words without knowing for sure what her response would be; you were there.

When I stared into nothing and promised myself that I would begin to care for the body that has carried me through so many experiences; you were there.

When I returned from my walk this morning; you were gone.

If I could be sure of one thing in all my relationships, it is to know that I will never be resented. I do not resent you, Celina. You were there for a reason and it will drive me nuts if I insist on finding an explanation. I can accept your presence in the same way that I delight in your absence. We were meant to be, it’s true. But I’ve found that you never finished the sentence.

We were meant to be… apart.

Goodbye Celina.

Another letter Seth? That’s great news, congratulations and yes, you were definitely meant to be apart!

Tomorrow when the alarm sounds before 5, think of Celina, I’m sure it will make everything easier.

Yeah. I was behind on writing letters. I’ve been doing okay with getting rid of the pounds. =)

Celina and I really tried our hardest. Truly we did. Haha.

I don’t think of Celina any more. I think of how nice it feels to come back into the warmth, fully awake and ready for the day.

It’s wonderful. I hope your cold goes away soon!

I like the idea of your letters.

Me, too. Plus they’re entertaining to read. You’ve got a great voice, Seth. :)

That was beautiful. I second Laurie, you have a fantastic voice.

I also love the letters, and this may be my favorite. Good riddance, Celina!

Thanks! I need to get caught up on writing them so I can have more pressure to get rid of some more lb’s. =)

So…which of your pounds will be a bromance gone awry?

    • Seth Simonds 06. Jan, 2010 at 11:23 am #

Hmm, I hadn’t thought of that.

Might be QUITE amusing. Any particular name you’d like? =)

        I’m thinking a Nick, Tex, Jake, Hank – something overtly masculine-sounding. ;-)

Agreed. If you name all the pounds after women, you might have trouble rationalizing it to yourself someday when you happen to find the Celina or Dominique of your dreams.

Oh, I’m fairly sure that won’t be an issue. Breaking up with a pound only takes a day or two. (yeah, yeah, I’m lazy. I know.) Breaking up with a person never fully happens.

I’ll definitely use a dude’s name in the future though. Classy idea!

Poor Celina — I hope that she can find a supermodel or someone to shack up with for a while, someone who could really use her.
